WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday afternoon in a final meeting, the teachers of the SITEK approved what was originally agreed with the Government. Pending attention to these points in the work commission and also in CGOA, the members decided to end and postpone their actions that began ten days ago. This automatically means that things will be normalized in all schools today. This was stated to EXTRA by Darius “Lio” Plantijn, President of SITEK. As is known, yesterday the Government represented through Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, Armin Konket and its experts on the one hand; and on the other SITEK and its experts as intermediaries, went to the table once again and finally reached an agreement.

There are a number of points of concern that must be taken care of. Although a limited number of points that they want to be addressed and specified in a short term. The points they wish to be addressed in a short term are for example: cleaning of schools, vacation days for non-teaching staff, number of working hours for teachers VSBO, and change of grade A for B referred to the teachers.

The President explained that the parties agree to set up a working group to address the points of concern. A working group because these points that mostly take time to be served and calculated. Also mr. Plantijn announced that some of the points that were finally achieved should be included in a National Decree to subsequently sign an agreement. SITEK in this case, will not put an ultimatum or stipulate dates, since these are topics that take time to be finalized. They will approach with these points that must be attended to in CGOA, organization in which SITEK has a seat.

In a statements to the press, Minister Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé expressed her satisfaction with what was approved although she must subsequently submit it to the Council of Ministers. It is positive that a working group was set up, as it is possible to calculate the size (financial) of what was agreed with SITEK.

With regard to the vacations of the non-teaching staff, she announced that, nonetheless, STSK has its remarks in this regard, this group should understand that the government partner in these negotiations and talks at the table, officially is SITEK. It is SITEK that is recognized in CGOA and CCVV and it is with this union with whom everything that has to do with the legal position of the teaching staff is dealt with.
