WILLEMSTAD/ PHILIPSBURG.- The Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the “Supervisory Board”) regrets the negative reports about the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the “CBCS”) in recent days. These notices include, among other things, confidential information available to the Bank.

First of all, the Supervisory Board states that it attaches great importance to the reliability and integrity of the Central Bank as an institution. The discretion, integrity and reliability of the CBCS must be beyond any doubt.

The Supervisory Board has taken cognizance of the available information and has decided to conduct an independent investigation into the facts and circumstances of recent events so that the Supervisory Board can use these facts and circumstances to determine whether or not there are legal frameworks of the Bank Statute and the Country of Curaçao, as well as to what appropriate conclusion this should lead.
