WILLEMSTAD – The Candidate-Minister for the Economic Development portfolio of the MAN party, Neysa Schoop-Isenia, has not withdrawn her candidacy. She denied the rumors that came out on social media during the last days. As it is known, more than 50 days ago, the MAN party appointed Schoop-Isenia as Minister, but until now the process of control and revision is not ready. Schopp-Isenia yesterday explained that she prefers not to comment on the situation.

She explained that her attorney Michael Bonaparte speaks on her behalf. Bonaparte said that she has not heard anything else about the review and control process in recent days. Minister-President Eugene Rhuggenaath, who formed the current cabinet, explained that the process is not ready yet. Yesterday night, he could not give an answer on the questions of why, the process is not ready yet. Last week the information was made public, that the review and control process may not be ready due to a Central Bank memorandum.

In this memorandum, there are some remarks from the 2014 period regarding the role of Schoop-Isenia in Girobank. As is known, the Prosecutor’s Office has a case against the ex-Director of Girobank, Eric García. Schoop-Isenia is not a suspect, but the memo can cause doubts about her role. Attorney Michael Bonaparte recently sent a letter to the Central Bank. According to the lawyer, the Central Bank violated the rules of privacy in a way that would be considered “out of place”. Bonaparte is of the opinion that the Central Bank intends to create the impression that Schoop-Isenia violated the rules. According to Bonaparte, a document cannot be sent to the Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha without previously contacting Schoop-Isenia.

The Board of Commissioners on Sunday, announced that the Central Bank will investigate the situation. So far, the MAN party remains at 100%, supporting the Schoop-Isenia candidacy.
