Following the new Covid-19 measures for restaurants, the Curaçao Restaurant Association has set up a digital guest-registration system. By scanning a QR code, visitors to a restaurant can register upon arrival. This quickens the registration and the restaurant doesn’t have to file the registrations itself. The data is stored securely and only used if requested by the government.

Mobile phones usually already have a scan function built in. By scanning the QR code, the visitor comes to a page where he can enter the information required by the government. It’s just five questions. After the information has been sent, the guest will be notified that he is registered and can enter. In the Netherlands, the use of the QR code is very common at the entrance of restaurants.

All restaurant members of the CRA will receive the QR code with an explanation and a corresponding poster that can be displayed at the door. The CRA encourages restaurants to use it and make sure there are as many registrations as possible. In the interest of public health, registrations are important to be able to trace people when a person infected with Covid-19 has visited a restaurant.
