The Curaçao Restaurant Association meeted with epidemiologist Izzy Gerstenbluth about the current Covid-19 situation. Following the local outbreak in Aruba, the association wanted to be informed of the status of Curaçao. They also looked at measures to be taken for the restaurant sector. Based on the meeting, guidelines are now drawn up which are shared with the members.

“We have been informed about the current situation by the doctor Gerstenbluth and do not need to take additional measures. We will, however, look at whether restaurants can contribute even more to the monitoring system by registering guests where possible so that tracking is possible in the event of an outbreak,” says Egon Sybrandy, Business Director of the CRA. Together with the members of the association, it is examined whether the restaurants can offer the possibility of registration, hand sanitizers and sufficient distance measures. In addition, guests are expected to take their own responsibility by using these facilities.

For the future it has been agreed for the CRA to stay in close contact with the epidemiologist in order to be able to act quickly when necessary. A step-by-step plan is being prepared to implement measures when needed.
