WILLEMSTAD – Minister Zita-Jesús Leíto was the host of the opening of Sabaneta’s day. A town, which she calls “a small town, with a big name and a bigger history”. Sabaneta, the name that a century and a half passed to almost all Curaçao meant the most important place from which they derived all kinds of agricultural products and that attended much of Curaçao with products such as milk, custard, butter, vegetables and other products. Today, after the great majority of its inhabitants left this beautiful town, even its name is of great significance and is still growing.

For the Minister Jesus-Leito, it is an honor to be there in its celebration and even more so that the Sabaneta neighborhood is a high priority in the management it is leading.

As small as a town is, it is one of the districts of Banda Bou that receive more visitors per day, thank to the Christofel Park, which is one of the points of interest that puts the name of Sabaneta in very high regards.

Sabaneta receives local tourists from all parts of the island and tourists from other nations who come to visit the park, a park that for years is internationally known.

The nature of Sabaneta is full of monumentally historic buildings, monuments from the older centuries that most people do not know of their existence.

And for that reason, the Minister mentioned in her speech at the beginning, that the development of the Sabaneta neighborhood is one of her priorities in the management that she is carrying in her office, since she does not stay calm and listen, she has even entered in the nature of Sabaneta to visit some of its monuments.

And while she was impressed by what she was looking at, she understood that what she was looking at was just a tiny part of what this beautiful neighborhood has to offer in monumental buildings.

The Minister declared publicly yesterday, that she gave her approval to the expressed desire on the part of Carmabi so that around each one of these monuments, a space is cleaned so that they can be preserved and so that also the generations who come can see and read your story.

This will also be the first open-air museum on this scale, called “Openlucht Museum” as it was the wish of Carmabi and other people who want to see the preserved monuments.

“The Minister not only speaks, she also does and fulfills what she promises, and soon Sabaneta will have an open-air museum where visitors can see all the monuments that this neighborhood has”

Minister Zita Jesús-Leíto emphasized this.
