BRONNITSY, Russia (AP) – Captain Lionel Messi and five other players from Argentina were subjected to a surprise FIFA anti-doping test on Tuesday a few days before the World Cup debut. In addition to the star of Barcelona, the other players who were tested at the training center in Bronnitsy were goalkeeper Franco Armani, defender Nicolás Otamendi, midfielders Marcos Acuña and Eduardo Salvio, and striker Paulo Dybala. The players were designated by lottery. No more details of the operation were given. Surprise checks are a common practice of FIFA before and during its competitions.
