Venezuela’s Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the arrest of a prominent exiled opposition figure, Julio Borges, on suspicion of involvement in what officials said was a drone “assassination” attempt on President Nicolas Maduro.

The court ordered the “immediate arrest” of Borges, a lawmaker and former speaker of the opposition-dominated National Assembly, for aggravated murder.

Borges, who on Tuesday was in Bogota attending the swearing-in of Colombia’s new president, Ivan Duque, called Maduro’s accusation against him “a farce.”
