WILLEMSTAD.- Recently in a comment made to the EXTRA editorial staff, Minister President Eugenne Rhuggenaath explained that they currently have a management team that aims to build the capacity of VDC. "All the developments that take place now, fall under the guidance of the management team." Minister Rhuggenaath said that in the new situation, Michael Römer does not have a role in VDC and as such the (former) Head of VDV is at the disposal of the Ministry of General Affairs. According to Rhuggenaath, Römer has a role in the Ministry but does not work for VDC.
As it is known in the year 2017, the Government of Curaçao reached a satisfactory agreement with the head at that time of VDC, who was Michael Römer so that he would not continue as Director of VDC. This, due to the accusations that were finally unjustified and without legal basis and for which he was acquitted of everything that was branded against him.
Therefore, there is confusion as to whether or not the aforementioned has functions in VDC, but the fact is clear and as long as the Government does not find an equal position, another head cannot be named and consequently Römer himself remains as head.
EXTRA sought to contact the lawyer for Römer, Mr. Hubert "Berti" Braam, to ask him a few questions, and for his part Braam said that for a while the case has been suspended, pending certain developments.
But if you cannot find a function like the one Römer has as a VDC Boss, you cannot name a new boss.
From reliable sources, EXTRA obtained the information that apparently the Government does not want Römer to occupy or be the VDC chief, but the source also added that Römer is not interested at all in this position as such.
The point of attention is that for now, Römer is still the head of VDC.
