WILLEMSTAD - Sunday afternoon at 6.40 p.m. Refineria Isla got a notification from Curaçao Refineria Utility (CRU), that everything had been normalized. This means that they have different capacities to operate the plants. What started on Friday from the morning returned to normal on Sunday afternoon at 6.40 p.m.
The spokesman for Refineria Isla Mr. Earl Balborda told Extra that Monday they would verify how the island would continue. Last Friday electricity at all the Refineria Isla plants fell when CRU stopped delivering the current abruptly. They were left to start with the operations of the plants back, according to the current supply of CRU, to clean the channels and stop the plants correctly. Balborda announced that on Sunday afternoon, Refineria received the "all go" signal from CRU.
From the moment that CRU began supplying Isla with the current again, they began to turn on the different plants. This happened according to a scheme and this was continued according to the capacity. By Sunday evening, the process in question was running out. The spokesman said later that Monday would go to the table to see if Refineria is able to start the plants again. Everything must be planned with the clients of Refineria.
He also explained that Isla currently has oil, but must now decide how to proceed with it. Isla produces according to what is planned with its clients. Now 3 days of production have been lost, so a table must be established to organize the steps to follow. Balborda accepted that since the month of May, no crude oil has been received in Curaçao, but they were working with the crude oil they had available and with this they reproduce 40 to 50 thousand barrels per day.
Today Refineria Isla will decide how to proceed with the situation that arose last Friday.
