FISHERMEN AT SHA CAPRILESKADE OFFICIALLY GOT THEIR AWNINGS

Komparti:

WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday, the fishermen of Sha Caprileskade got the first stands with awnings to sell fish. The Minister of Economic Development, mr. Steven Martina together with the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature sra. Suzy Camelia-Rõmer as well as the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) inaugurated the new stand with awnings for fishermen that sell at Sha Caprileskade.

In April of this year, during the routine checks of the Inspection Team of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), three stands with awnings of the fishermen at the Sha Caprileskade were in an unacceptable state. For this reason and in its eagerness to improve the situation around the aforementioned dock, MEO contacted the parties concerned in order to, as soon as possible, to reach a favorable solution with this situation. Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) took the responsibility to renew the stands and awnings for the fishermen to sell their fresh fish.

Yesterday was the official delivery of the stand to the fishermen awnings at Sha Caprileskade. During this occasion, Minister Martina together with Minister Camelia-Rõmer and Mr. Albert Zueste of CPA, symbolically delivered a key to the users of the awnings as illustration of the responsibility to take care and maintenance of their awnings while they are making good use of them.

This is a first step in the renewal of the full face of Sha Caprileskade. The location where the fruit ships will be located back is the second and next phase of renovation and the Ministry hopes to reopen these awnings very soon.
