Government does not want public entities to communicate directly with CFT

Komparti:

WILLEMSTAD.- The Minister of Finance, mr. Kenneth Gijsbertha does not appreciate that the members of the Council of Financial Supervision, CFT, speak with individual entities and consequently use the information they obtain from these entities, as a basis for their advice and opinions on the country's budget.

Consequentially, the Minister sent a letter to all the entities and agreed with them that any communication with CFT should go via centralized. In other words, entities should not speak autonomously with CFT, but communicate through the Government. An example of direct communication that Gijsbertha does not appreciate, was the visit that CFT made to Fundashon Kas Popular, FKP.

It is based on this visit that CFT determined in its last letter that Gijsbertha must take measures on the sum of 100 million guilders that the Government owes to FKP. However, on several previous occasions, the Government explained that it has a SOAB report which indicates that the debt is lesser and that it is a matter of the Government sitting with FKP to finish addressing this dispute.

Minister Gijsbertha in interviews that he has given, has also pointed out that CFT has no reason to meet with the entities autonomously.
