Government will pay attention to students who use public transport

Komparti:

WILLEMSTAD.- The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, recently received a letter from a number of students of M.I.L regarding their concern related to the public transportation of the school.

For some time now, the Government has introduced a "smart card". With this membership card, students of 17 years and over can go to their school with public transportation and return home on government costs. Despite the Government's desire to help and provide facilities for our young people, it was found that the departure and arrival times of the buses are not at the convenience of the students who live in the area of Banda Bou.

Students must get up at dawn to be on time for the buses that come by very early, while the school doors open officially at 7:00 in the morning. In addition, the students explain that if the bus is full, they must wait for the next bus and this has the consequence that they arrive late to their schools. The same situation occurs when they must return home in the afternoon, students must wait a long time for the bus. And, logically, this can have an impact on the development of the students.

The Government has taken note of the situation mentioned above, and is paying attention to this. Therefore, try to make the necessary adjustments to remedy this situation concerning school transportation.
