WILLEMSTAD.-Parliamentarian Giselle Mc William (MAN) hopes that Curaçao in 2019, can begin a phase of transition to reach a law that prohibits the use of foam containers and disposable plastic bags. According to Mc William, the ban has to start from January 1, 2020 and this was indicated in an interview with a local radio, Paradise FM. Mc William is of the opinion that during a period of 4 months in 2019, companies can end their inventories of foam containers and plastic bags. According to Mc William, the law to prohibit the use of foam containers and disposable plastic bags that are used only once has not been approved yet, but she sees no problem with that. "The Coalition parties are Pro, and obviously I cannot imagine that the opposition parties will vote against this matter, which is so important for Curaçao, everyone is aware of this." In Bonaire, two months ago the members of the Insular Council for MPB, specifically Renata Domacassé, presented a motion during the meeting of the Insular Council, to sanction a Law that prohibited the use of foam containers, plastic bags and plastic straws as well. The motion was approved unanimously. This meant that the Insular Council of Bonaire instructed the Executive College of Public Bonaire Entities to enter a path that achieved the prohibition of the use of foam containers, disposable plastic bags for single use and plastic straws for drink simultaneously, from January 1, 2020. In Aruba, an official announcement was made from January 1, 2019, prohibiting the use of "sun blockers" and "sunscreens" containing Oxybenzone. This will mean that by January 1, 2020, this will be completely prohibited in Aruba. Said prohibitions, are particularly important to guarantee the care of the environment.
