WILLEMSTAD.- Advent Hospital yesterday sent a press release regarding an interview that Inspector General Jan Huurman gave to Radio Hoyer recently. Journalist Rick Hart asked Huurman if he cheated on his statements. Huurman denies this categorically. This related to complaints against Huurman of patients at Advent Hospital. In the interview Huurman emphasized that he did not know about these complaints.
But according to Advent Hospital complaints were presented to Huurman and he responded in writing. According to the Hospital, this is clear evidence that Huurman is aware of these complaints, which is why he is deceitful with his statements.
The Advent Hospital indicated that the Ministry of Health announced that it would install a commission that would be in charge of the investigation of the complaints against Huurman. According to the Advent Hospital, it is not possible for the Minister to set up a commission without first talking to Huurman about these complaints.
In the press release, Advent Hospital wrote that it is important to mention that complaints concerning the Inspector could not be delivered to the Inspector General, as they should be, because of good governance. According to Advent Huurman, was both Inspector and Inspector General. Huurman has always said that the situation in the Netherlands should be an example for Curaçao. But in Holland, an Inspector cannot be his own boss and cannot evaluate his own attitude. This goes against all the normal rules of good governance.
Along with this, the Advent Hospital is of the opinion that Huurman for one full year served as Inspector and Inspector General of Health at the same time, but did nothing concrete for Curaçao .... "The only thing Huurman did was to create a lot of restlessness".
