WILLEMSTAD – “Before December, we have delivered the documents that make it easier for MEO to prevent bus fares from rising in the future,” this was announced by the head of the labor union, STO Giovanie Decaster.

It is very strange that until now MEO has not reported anything on their part, regarding bus fares.

Decaster explained that they have not yet received any notification on whether there will be an increase in bus fare or not or if there is a solution to avoid the rise in the bus fare. This is a huge negligence according to Decaster.

Everything indicates that MEO prefers to avoid the issue and does not have a solution to prevent users from paying more for bus fares.

Decaster announced that they remain very positive and hope to have a meeting soon with the government to give all the attention that this aspect requires.

All this is due to the fact that the diesel oil has risen again and therefore, this means more expenses for the bus drivers. STO delivered some proposals to lower certain expenses and thus avoid raising the bus fares.

Decaster is of the opinion that at the same time that the taxes on the profits of the capitalists are lowered, certain costs can be lowered for the bus drivers, which affects the benefit of the community, that is, of the people.

For this reason, STO hope to get a reaction from MEO and comply with their own decision that twice a month they will evaluate the rates. This is an aspect that MEO himself proposed to them.

Decaster said that they are not in favor of more increases but on the other hand if the costs continue to rise for the bus drivers, they will not be able to cover all these expenses either.

Therefore, they consider it is important for MEO to take into account the proposal that they had presented in order to avoid an increase in bus fares.

Decaster hopes that MEO still has the documents and can still proceeds to evaluate them properly.
