Toronto, Canada
OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman has apologized to a Canadian town devastated by a February mass shooting, saying he was "deeply sorry" the company did not notify police about the killer's troubling ChatGPT account.
OpenAI had banned an account linked to Jesse Van Rootselaar in June 2025, eight months before the 18-year-old transgender woman killed eight people at her home and a school in the tiny British Columbia mining town of Tumbler Ridge. The account was banned over concerns about usage linked to violent activity, but OpenAI said it did not inform police because nothing pointed toward an imminent attack.
Canadian officials condemned OpenAI's handling of the case and summoned company leaders to Ottawa to explain its security protocols.
The family of a girl who was shot and gravely wounded at the school is suing the US tech giant for negligence.
In a letter Thursday addressed to the community of Tumbler Ridge, published Friday by the local news site Tumbler RidgeLines, Altman said "no one should ever have to endure a tragedy like this."
"I am deeply sorry that we did not alert law enforcement to the account that was banned in June," Altman wrote.
"While I know words can never be enough, I believe an apology is necessary to recognize the harm and irreversible loss your community has suffered."
Van Rootselaar killed her mother and brother at the family's home before heading to the local secondary school, where she shot dead five children and a teacher.
She died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after police entered the building.

Stories like this are hard to process because they sit at the intersection of technology, responsibility, and public safety. When warning signs, reports, or communication gaps are involved, people naturally want clearer systems and more accountability. I think the bigger lesson is that digital platforms cannot feel separate from real-world consequences anymore. Even something as simple as recognizing suspicious calls or patterns makes people more cautious, which is why resources like https://800notes.pissedconsumer.com/review.html come to mind. Society keeps learning that information matters most when it reaches the right people at the right time, before harm grows.

Honestly, I don't personally make money from any AI or content-generating programs. My source of income is online casinos. I play most often on https://mostbetbd.asia/promo-codes/ and I can say that the platform is really convenient: there are many different games, slots, a live casino, and they regularly offer bonuses and promo codes that help increase your chances of winning. For those who want to try this option, I highly recommend it. The main thing is to play responsibly, but the thrill of the process and the opportunity to earn money are real.

Many gaming platforms online become frustrating after longer browsing sessions because they either freeze repeatedly or start lagging badly while switching between different menus from mobile devices every single day recently. Yesterday night while relaxing at home, I spent some free time exploring different sections and checking how smoothly everything performs online from my phone. Surprisingly, TC lottery Game stayed stable throughout usage sessions and even after continuous browsing the overall experience still felt comfortable compared to several similar gaming apps recently used online.
