WILLEMSTAD.- During these days of the carnival, different videos appeared on social networks where you can see struggles between the police and citizens who went to see the carnival parade in different areas. The struggles took place, after the police responded in some cases of fights in which things got out of hand.

Different threats and aggressions arose from both the police and the citizens. Immediately the videos were scattered by social networks without the full videos being placed where you can see exactly what happened from the beginning. This made the Police Force to immediately call for a press conference to bring clarification and make it clear that no police will leave their homes with the intention of mistreating any person.

Without going into detail of the cases so as not to interfere with the investigations, the spokesman of the Police Corps of Curaçao Imro Zwerwer said that the cases are in thorough investigation to know what happened exactly. Zwerwer also stated very clearly, that, if the agents acted incorrectly, they will be criminally responsible for this. But it should be emphasized, that no insult or threat will be tolerated either personally or on social networks.

It is good to mention that you do not have to physically touch a person to consider that you insulted or threatened them in a punishable form.
