WILLEMSTAD.- Monsignor Luis Secco, Bishop of Willemstad sends a spiritual message of support during these difficult times. He directs it especially to the unions and employees of the Isla Refinery N.V. and their families. "In life we go through trials and adverse situations, there is not a single person in this world who has not experienced difficult and difficult situations, we are all going through times of doubt and pain," says Bishop Luis Secco. The word of God tells us: "Do not be afraid, because I am with you, do not lose faith, because I am your God, I give you strength, I help you and I support you with my victorious hand"( Is. 41,10).

"As Bishop of Willemstad, I address you on behalf of our entire Bishopric, in absolute solidarity at this time, a time when you may feel completely discouraged and sad, so that you, together with you, may feel supported and not let this situation shake our faith, but on the contrary it can be reinforced ", words of Bishop Luis Secco." No matter how hard we are going, turbulent waters or fire, we will still be victorious, because if we put our faith in him, He will never fail us.

This also means specifically that when we feel depressed, we stop for a while to reflect and seek the help of the Lord. A few special words, Bishop Luis Secco wants to dedicate to families, husbands or wives and children. Since an economic situation puts a lot of additional weight on our families, and affects the welfare of the couple and also many times, that of our own children.

It is precisely in those moments, when we must all join forces, seek solutions together and pray together. I offer you, my extra support in prayer, for your families. The Bishop also sends a word of support and encouragement for our union leaders. "You did everything you could to keep the refinery open, continue looking for a new direction, continue to deliberate and help in the negotiations, do not abandon the struggle, you have the experience, use it!

As a contribution of deep prayer for the community, the Bishop will ask all the priests of Curaçao to hold a prayer chain in all the parishes on Sunday, June 2nd to ask God for support and a solution for all of us, trade unionists, employees and their families; all for the sake of a better future for the Isla Refinery.

Finally he assures us that he will invoke his prayers and solidarity for our entire community, which during the month of May celebrated Mother's Day, which we all call "Help of Christians", which helps in difficult times throughout the history of our humanity. "A blessing for you from the bottom of my heart," says Bishop Luis Secco.
