WILLEMSTAD.- The demonstrations of the last weeks had a negative effect on cruise tourism. Previously CPA had to approach the main offices of cruise ship lines, to express their concern about the burning tires. This week that tourists were walking through the center of the city, they immediately returned to their cruise ships when they noticed the wave of demonstrations.

Curaçao was the winner in the last two consecutive years as the most popular destination in the southern Caribbean. We managed to be the record country with the most tourists last year and everything shows that this year we have surpassed these levels and we are way above this.

CPA issued a statement to raise awareness of each and every one of us, remarking in a suggestive way, that we must understand that our actions have an impact on the image of our island and that precisely these actions last week affected the image of Curaçao negatively in the cruise sector.
