WILLEMSTAD.- Many specialists have no problem entering the new Hospital that will be called Curaçao Medical Center (CMC), as was announced by Minister Suzy Camelia-Rómer at the Parliament's Central Committee.
The Minister Camelia-Rómer explained that currently in Sehos there are 60 permanent Specialists and 42 specialists, who through contract can enter to work in the Hospital.
According to the management that was stipulated since the time of the ex-Minister Constancia, all the specialists on "payroll" must be in Permanent Service within the Hospital.
At the time that CMC took them into service, CMC expenses went up but not in macro costs. When we see the price of what private specialists cost, the sum is higher than when they are in service. The balance will not be more expensive, as explained by the president.
Regarding the integration of the specialists in the Hospital, the current Government was left with the same proposal received from the former Minister Constancia, regarding that all the specialists must gradually enter the new Hospital. Since the new integration is the one that gives the people a better service. "An internationally recognized eminence like Bob Pinedo gave the same advice to the current Minister, about the integration of specialists in the Hospital." According to the recommendation that Minister Camelia Rómer asked Professor Bob Pinedo, he explained that the integration model is one that not only looks at the liver or heart of the patient, but looks at it "as a whole" as such. And since all the doctors will work together inside the Hospital as Specialists they will talk about the patient as a person.
It is culminating with the "Decree of General Measures, which will lay the foundations to take care of the contracts. After everything is ready, it will negotiate with the Specialists." She thinks that a large part of the Specialists will enter into service in CMC.
At this moment, SEHOS has 60 "Payroll" Specialists. There are 45 Specialists who will be admitted to work, who will also have offices outside. There are 40 Specialists out of which 22, based on previous conversations have no problem entering the new Hospital. Of the 18 that are left over, 11 are 63 years old. The decree is going to regulate the age of pension. This is very important, since limitation should be placed on the years during which Specialists will work. There is a certain age to retire with a pension and if it is not stipulated, it cannot be planned and, consequently, it will not be possible to tell a young specialist working abroad, in which period the vacancies for some specialization may be opened.
Finally, the Minister explained that operating expenses have been calculated at 240 million per year.
