STUDENTS LEAVING TO HOLLAND RECEIVE THEIR TICKETS

Komparti:

WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday the Stichting Studiefinanciering Curaçao (SSC) had an activity for parents and students who are going to study in Holland. They received the information concerning their departure and arrival in Holland. The airport authorities also offered information to the students about everything they need to take into account on the day of their flight. After this informative section, SSC proceeded to the delivery of the tickets to the students.

On this occasion, the collaborator of the Minister, mrs. Elienne Kirindongo represented Minister Alcala-Walle who is abroad at the Central American Games in Colombia and gave the speech for her.

She told the students that they are at an important point in their live, in which they will be far away from Curaçao to continue their studies. This is something new and different from the island but at the same time it is a great opportunity to broaden their horizons. In turn, this breakthrough offers great challenges to those who must deal with, learn and succeed.

The Minister's message to the student was to stay focused both when opportunities arise or even challenges. "Stay focused on what you went to do and achieve your goals."

It is important to underline, that the support of the representatives or tutors of the students does not diminish now, on the contrary it grows. Therefore, it is important that parents and tutors stay connected with their children, so that in the event they have needs, the children can count on their parents or tutors.

For example, there are cases of students arriving in the Netherlands and after a month or some short thereafter, there is a moment when they need attention, they feel very much in need to have contact with their home. They can feel alone and do not get acclimated quickly. At that time it is important that they know that their parents or tutors are there for them and get the support they need from them.

With the means of communication that exist today, all this is possible and not even expensive. Parents, tutors / representatives and students are in good contact with each other so that they can achieve their desired dreams and goals.

Words of mrs. Elien Kirindongo. (Deputy collaborator of Minister Alcala-Wallè).
