Case continues on June 8th

WILLEMSTAD.- Today, Wednesday, April 6, 2022, the first hearing was held at the Court in the First Instance as a result of the investigation INEX 2.0, the theft of narcotics from the police station 'Rio Canario'. The Public Prosecutor's Office announced at this hearing that eight (8) suspects have been arrested so far in the investigation, five (5) of whom are still in pre-trial detention. Two (2) suspects, one (1) of whom is a former police officer, are accused of having a role in carrying out the theft. The other suspects are accused of involvement in, among other things, trading in the narcotics seized during the burglary. The Court in the First Instance suspended the proceedings today at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office until June 8, 2022 because the investigation has not yet been completed. On June 8, 2022, there will be a pre-trial hearing at which the defense can express investigation wishes. It is expected that the case will be heard with respect to content in August.
