WILLEMSTAD.- According to Ieteke "Inchi" Witteveen, the Netherlands failed with the situation of Venezuelan undocumented Venezuelans who are coming to Curaçao. As is known, Holland is responsible for all the kingdom's borders. Some past months Witteveen with a group of citizens concerned about the situation that the undocumented are suffering within Curaçao, decided to call the attention of Minister Blok regarding the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. And until now the Dutch government has not reacted.

According to Witteveen, the government of Curacao at the time organized an information session in Wilheminaplein on June 21. During the night different officials explained the procedures to ask for asylum, which in their opinion are very complicated. At that time, Lawyer Achim Henriquez asked the government of Curaçao for a Venezuelan military asylum. In his opinion there are other lawyers like Geraldine Paris, Berry Scheperboer and Michiel Bijkerk, who from their human perspective are helping undocumented people who cannot return to Venezuela.

Finally, according to Witteveen, it is very important that the Government of Curaçao apply a dispensation for the number of more or less 400 people in Curaçao who have a registry for the procedure in the Curaçao for the refugees of the United Nations. Within the group of 400 people in Curaçao excite 202 Venezuelans. Witteveen says, "they can stay here, but they cannot work", this is neither desirable nor human. According to our government of Curaçao we have to create work for them, but let's give them permission to work. Another point of concern according to Witteveen is that these 400 people should also be entitled to medical care. According to Witteveen, international laws force Curaçao to cover opportunities for a group to get medical care. But unfortunately, that has not happened so far.
