WILLEMSTAD.-During these past days, the multidisciplinary team formed by the Firemen, Police, MEO and also BAB, have taken measures of controlling different aspects of the sale of fireworks which has started today.

The Controls sought to verify that everything was in order, and give the resellers the opportunity to fix any extra eventualities at the points of sale. During these controls, it was found that some fireworks had codes that did not match the codes on the boxes.

The people in charge of the points of sale were immediately informed and allowed the to fix them so that they were in order.

In addition, some small details had to be fixed in some points of sale as well as certain security points, for example warnings with safety instructions.

Now that selling has started, there will be more severe controls. If any eventuality contrary to the regulations is occurs again, more severe measures will be taken, even those that could lead to the closure of the establishment after receiving any warning from the competent bodies.

This year, we will act very harshly against those people who try to sell fireworks and pyrotechnics illegally, that is, without them having the necessary permits.

It must be said that this year we will have around 25 points of sale in Curaçao, which is much less than the previous years.

All points of sale can sell fireworks and pyrotechnics until December 31, 2018, but these can be thrown until January 1, 2019.
