According to Report / Regional Plan on Refugees and Immigrants. WILLEMSTAD / DEN HAAG.- Reports derived from the Kingdom indicate this week that the number of Venezuelans who are looking for a better life in the Caribbean area will increase drastically in 2019. This will mean that here in the Caribbean we will require a sum of $35 million to accommodate this group with the intention of leading a more humane life. A calculation that was made indicated that 147,000 Venezuelan migrants will be divided between Curaçao, Aruba, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic and Guyana, but that by the end of next year. This amount will rise by 50% and reach 220,000 among Refugees and Immigrants, who will be under the coordination of the United Nations Refugee Organization. This is how around 95 Organizations from 16 different countries involved, worked on the preparation of this report. It is not known what the bases were for these Organizations to predict the increase in the number of refugees in the Caribbean area for next year. Moreover, the Secretary of State for the relations of the Kingdom, Mr. Knops, announced in the Second Chamber, that for this moment there is no indication that there will be a large flow of migrants in the direction of the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom. In the plan for Refugees and Migrants, ample attention is given to the poor accommodation of Venezuelan migrants in both Aruba and Curaçao, which is a consequence of the lack of rules and laws and the limitations on this issue. This is in addition to the limited capacity that there is on the islands to be able to guide such a huge flow of excessive people in a good direction. The document also explicitly describes the humiliating situations that refugees often have to confront. Those who have formulated this plan, made a calculation indicating that they will need $ 738 million from the International Community to be able to accommodate 3 million Venezuelan refugees who have left their country. Of this amount, a total of $ 35 million will be required for Curaçao, Aruba and Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic or Guyana.
