Willemstad – Tomorrow the Court of Appeals will deal with the case of the owner of Bandera Grill Willem “Wimpy” La Reine (54) and his wife Adienne Sintiago (42).

Both were previously convicted in the Court of First Instance for a case of human trafficking.

Wimpy was sentenced to 6 months and Sintiago to 3 months conditional. Both appealed to the judgment in this case defending their innocence.

According to the Public Ministry, in the period between October 6 and October 15, 2016, in close cooperation with other people, the defendants brought the woman B. Camacho from Venezuela, on the pretext that she would work in the kitchen and clean up their business. It turned out that the lady had to prostitute herself and dance erotic dances in front of clients in order to receive her payments.

The Public Ministry also accused Wimpy of threatening her. The victim of this case declared that she was approached by a certain Lino in Venezuela who informed her that she would work as a cook in Curaçao. Later the Public Ministry declared that Lino is the intermediary that travels to Venezuela to find ladies who could come work as prostitutes in Wimpy’s business here in Curaçao.

According to the victim, she accepted the offer to work with Lino because of the critical situation in Venezuela. He instructed her what say to immigration upon her arrival in Curaçao in order to pass controls.

After arriving at Bandera Grill, the accused female Sintiago approached her and informed her that she would clean up, distribute drinks and prostitute herself so that she could return the money equivalent to a debt of fl. 1250

Both defendants strongly deny these accusations. This case will be presented tomorrow in front of the Court of Appeals.
