WILLEMSTAD- The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mrs. Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, yesterday began to try to raise awareness among all the people who work in her Ministry. She sent a letter to all institutions and people included in her budget. In the letter, Alcalá-Wallé explains that for two years, it was known that the financial situation of Curaçao was worrisome. In her letter, Minister Alcalá-Wallé explains that the Rhuggenaath Cabinet took different measures to fix the financial situation. But none of this was enough. Since 2016, the Financial Supervision Committee has been expressing its concern regarding the financial situation of Curaçao.

In this framework, Cft pointed out very optimistic estimates of entry, deficiency in financial management and lack of budgetary discipline, which results in expenses not meeting budget limits. Recently Cft advised the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom to give Curaçao an instruction to balance the entry costs for more years within the budget.

In this framework, Alcalá-Wallé informed all the people that they will receive their salaries from their Ministry, despite the situation. Minister Alcalá-Wallé mentions in her letter that the situation can have possible dismissals as consequences. She urges everyone to take into account the current situation.
