WILLEMSTAD.- Henter e problema rondó di Venezuela lo ser atendé dor di Ulanda via kanalnan diplomátiko, i Ulanda lo sigui buska un solushon pa yega na reapertura dje konekshonnan i relashonnan entre e pais aki i e parti Karibense den Reino. Esei por a komprondé di e Minister di Asuntunan Eksterno di Reino, sr. Stef Blok, durante un enkuentro ku prensa na final di e reunion entre e mandatario aki i e promé ministernan di Aruba, Kòrsou i St. Maarten. El a deklará ku, ta bon si pa rekordá ku e sanshonnan ku Ulanda a akordá na Europa kontra Venezuela ta algu ku a sosodé despues ku Venezuela a sera su fronteranan. Pues e blokeo no tabata pa motibu dje sanshonnan for di Europa.

Mas aleu e mandatario a deklará ku, den e mesun rosea mester mustra Venezuela si riba e kosnan robes ku e mes ta hasiendo. E maneho ku nan a bin ta hiba a pone ku awe hopi hende a disidí di bandoná e pais.

Honorable Minister of Exterior Affairs Stef Blok, I was baffled when hearing your discourse about the affairs with Venezuela. According to me, you didn’t address the real issues facing the ABC Islands, nor did Holland reacted to the Venezuelan concerns regarding the illegal export of the mining commodities. I would even agree with the fact that the Venezuelan blockade of any type of transport between its territory and the ABC Islands have nothing to do with the decision of Holland to agree with European sanctions. The fact of the matter is that European Dutch citizens illegally transported precious commodities to the territories of the ABC Island, kept them outside the reach of Customs and load them up on flights to Europe. On different occasions the Venezuelan authorities communicated these wrong doings with the Dutch authorities, not the ABC Islands authorities; but Holland didn’t want to resolve that issue and turn its face away from these illegal actions with result that Venezuela closed its borders to prevent such activities to still continue. I perceive that one of the two things should happen to resolve this blockade in the near future: a) Holland apologize for these wrong doings, put policies in place to prevent these to happen again and penalize those responsible for these dreadful acts or, b) The Prime Ministers of both Aruba and Curaçao (no European Dutch citizen should join) should pay a visit to “El Comandante” President of the “Republica Bolivariano” to convince him of the fact that the ABC Islands weren’t aware of the said wrong doings and that all cargo arriving in the future from Venezuela for outbound destination will be searched prior to leave the territories. Just a reminder: President Maduro comes from the Maduro lineage in Curaçao and the Oduber lineage in Aruba. The Prime Ministers can speak fluent Spanish with the President of Venezuela and so prevent any miscommunication that may lead (again) to more suspensions. The €100.000 offered to help with the undocumented (we don’t call them illegals) Venezuelans is an insult to the people of Curaçao. I also assume that the great people of Curaçao do have the expertise to deal with the issues the Dutch caused because they haven’t addressed the illegal issues timely. Now the ABC Islands are suffering millions of dollars’ income from the tourism sector, price spikes in consumables because they must be imported from other destinations and the ABC Islands also got wedged with a major humanitarian disaster that Holland could have prevented. €100K is just peanut compared to the financial challenges the ABC Islands are left with. So, Honorable Minister of Exterior Affairs Stef Blok, please think twice before offering any help, because remember it is the Dutch Government that caused this tragedy and €100K can't prevent the countries' deficit. The information above is my contribution around the discussion of the blockade imposed by Venezuela, the questionable role of Holland and the negative financial impact to the ABC Islands.
