WILLEMSTAD.- A couple of weeks ago EXTRA informed regarding the problem of the “fungus” that the Court of Justice building is facing. This is affecting the health of the staff, but there is also the problem with the sewers, the quality of the air conditioning system, the problem of the damaged cement and also the lack of space to house the workers.

Related to this, an evaluation was made to send half of the staff to the KMS Building in Punda. In a conversation with EXTRA, some weeks ago on this topic, the Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie announced that the Government was seeking a solution for this problem. The Government is in talks with commission for an alternative plan.

After half of the staff moved to another building, the work flow is currently not the most efficient. This is the reason why it was decided to look for a building, which with the help of the Government will probably cover the expenses so that the work of the Court can continue.

Together with the Police Corps and members of LBD, efforts will be made to improve the security aspect, among others that of the detainees who must appear before the Judges and whose cases should be dealt with.

This management team has already given all the workers of the building, information related to the renovation of the Court of Justice, informing them that they are working on the possibility of an alternative building, foreseeing that it will last 3 years for the renewal to take place completely.
