WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday, May 5th, the “Pueblo Soberano ” Party commemorated its maximum leader of all time, Helmin Wiels. This day, Wiels was killed at the pier of Marie Pampun. Just in that place where he was brutally torn from this world, a ceremony was held to remember him. It was 6 years ago when Wiels was killed. According to the current leader of the Pueblo Soberano Party, Dr. Bernard “Ben” Whiteman, yesterday he was not remembered for the farewell of Helmin Wiels, but on the contrary, they went to receive him. He looks to Helmin Wiels as reinforcement, as a principal adviser, as an invincible ally in the current struggle to get Curaçao out of the abyss into which the country is submerged.

“Helmin is with us in the struggle to write new pages of the history and glory of Curaçao,” according to its current leader, Whiteman. But the treacherous bullets through which it was intended to silence Wiels, clearly produced the opposite effect, that is to say; multiply your ideas, your examples and your moral. The same as the Roman efforts to try to eliminate Christianity, what he sought was to further irrigate Christianity around the world; In the same way, the effort to silence Helmin Wiels only what he achieved was to water and multiply his ideas, his examples and his moral throughout Curaçao.

“Helmin’s ideas were to work on the formation of a new, sovereign and prosperous Curaçao, capable of having a respectable partner at the level of the changing geopolitical world.” Therefore, if we want true teachers who understand the difference between free school and free education, they must be like Helmin. If we want social workers, not bureaucrats who attend to the beats or the calls of their heart regarding the needs of the neighborhoods, they should be like Helmin.

If we want to form an army of workers who fight tirelessly for the advancement of Curaçao, first and foremost, they must be like Helmin. If our union leaders do not sell themselves or their union cause, but live, protect and magnify the noble task of unionism, they should be like Helmin. Finally, if the leaders selflessly defend the general interest of Curaçao with all their intensity, they should be like Helmin, so Mr. Whiteman ended up saying in his speech.
