ANTWERP/W’STAD.- Once again, attention is drawn to large groups of young people of Antillean dissidents who are part of drug criminal gangs in Antwerp, Belgium. According to the report, Dutch drug criminals play a significant role in the Belgian port. Of the 150 individuals detained by judicial authorities in 2023 at the port, approximately 50% come from the Netherlands. This has been the case for several years, according to the chief prosecutor, Franky De Keyzer. He explained the drug situation arriving at the port of Antwerp, Belgium.

These Dutch criminals in Antwerp are not only involved in drug-related violence but also in attacks on homes. De Keyzer: “In 2022, at one point, the situation was so serious that part of the Antwerp prison was filled with Dutch inmates alone.” According to the chief prosecutor, many of the suspects come from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague. These Dutch individuals are largely of Antillean and Surinamese origin involved in youth criminal gangs. The Netherlands also has a problem with these groups.
