Willemstad, March 2nd, 2022–Yesterday, CHATA, the association representing over 250 members in the tourism and hospitality sector, together with the Curaçao Restaurant Association (CRA) and Horecaf, organized a press conference. Accompanied by CRA board member, Mr.Martin den Dulk,andMr. Kenneth Valpoort from Horecaf, CHATA announced that they are organizing an Island JobFair as part of the workforce solution  in the hospitality and tourism sector. The session started with a speech from the Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare, Mrs.Rutmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, on the importance ofinitiatives like this one that contribute to the solution to bring our local people back to work. Furthermore, the Minister expressed the Government’s support to this event and invited the public to visit the Island Job Fair. CHATA’s Managing Director, Mrs. Maria-Helena Seferina-Rojas, elaborated on the current challenges in the tourism and hospitality sector in terms of workforce. CHATA’s priority is focused on recovery of the sector and the island’s economy in general. For this reason and with the aim to contribute to  the solution, bring the unemployed community back to work, connect them with the current vacancies in tourism and hospitality and improve the social-economic situation of our country, CHATA is organizing an Island Job Fair in collaboration with the Curaçao Restaurant Association an Horecaf. The Island Job Fair will take place on Saturday, 19 March 2022, in the Royal Ballroom at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort, from 10:30 AM till 17:30 PM. Entrance is completely free and according to all social distancing rules and regulations. There will also be mini workshops during the event to help prepare the job seekers with valuable tips on how to apply for a job and much more.

With this Island Job fair, the private sector offers opportunity, brings the job seekers closer and connects them with the various available vacancies. This way CHATA, CRA and Horecaf work together to contribute with job opportunities for our local community, improve our island’s social-economic situation and contribute to the solution to the workforce problem in the tourism and hospitality sector.
