Human Rights Caribbean (HRC) Foundation was pleased to take note of the announcement by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his letter of 13 February 2019 to the President of the House of Representatives, to respond to the interim president’s request. Juan Guaidó and the United States to use Curaçao as a logistic hub for humanitarian aid to Venezuela. All this in the light of the major humanitarian needs in Venezuela. This concerns, inter alia, medical, social, economic and humanitarian matters, as stated by the Minister in his letter, as in answering the relevant parliamentary questions.

The Human Rights Caribbean Foundation now hopes that this important function for Curaçao and the fact that the Dutch cabinet is seriously concerned about the situation in Venezuela, means that in anticipation of “the elaboration of the precise modalities”, a halt to the holding of Venezuelan refugees in the barracks of the SDDK and returning these people to their country. After all, it is a country that they have fled because of the humanitarian crisis that has now been recognized by the Kingdom.
