WILLEMSTAD.- Secretary of State for Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops said that the problems that Curaçao faces at this moment are quite considerable. In an interview with the Dutch magazine “VNG Magazine”, he mentioned that the biggest problems for Curaçao are the following: Financial Recession and crisis with our neighboring country Venezuela.

On the other hand, he is much more positive about the islands Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. According to Knops, the problems on the islands are almost ready: “If we, as Holland, do things well for the islands, they will not have big financial problems anymore.” There are many challenges to be faced regarding the islands, but we have taken many steps forward to improve the situation. “Knops said he is very optimistic about the developments that will take place in the BES islands.
