WILLEMSTAD.- Yesterday, the prosecutor filed a demand for 16 years for Yvolaine J. and 6 years for her son Gabrielo J. Both accused are responsible for the death of S. Domitilia on June 18, 2023. Some people in the Playa Canoa area that day noticed a lifeless body floating in the water. When they called the police and removed the body from the water, it turned out to be Mr. Domitilia. The police initiated investigations and, among other things, went to check the cameras of the businesses located in the Playa Canoa area. They saw on the cameras a white van and a golden Toyota Yaris, which arrived at the scene, and after 20 minutes both vehicles left.

The police found the van abandoned in Mirador in Hato and found fingerprints in the van that were investigated and turned out to be Gabrielo’s. The investigation continued and the police managed to arrest Yvolaine. During her detention, she denied knowing anything about the murder. She said that on that day she went out with her children to shop, and collected some money from the cologne she sells, but upon returning home did not find the victim. Later, she learned that the body found floating was that of her partner.

But then, when the police confronted her with what they found and also with camera images, the accused admitted to being responsible for the murder of the victim. He said he was a victim of abuse and also of sexual assault. According to the accused, every day the man came with friends and raped her. The man first smoked marijuana and then abused her. That day, he wanted to show the man how it felt to be subdued and violated. He seduced him, tied his hands to play with him, and wanted to introduce a dildo to him. The man became aggressive and stabbed her. He tried to take away the knife, but the man kept fighting with her. When he finally managed to take away the knife, he stabbed him and inserted it into the man. The accused said it was not his intention to kill the man. He wanted to take him to the hospital, but he died on the way. Her son wanted to call the police, but she prevented him. They went to Playa Canoa and got rid of the body. According to the prosecutor, the police heard the younger son that day and saw his mother and brother talking in a low voice. Then, his mother told him to get into the car. His mother got into his brother’s car and his brother left with the van. In the car, his mother said his brother ran over Domitilia and was very nervous. They went to Playa Canoa and his mother got off near his brother. He saw his mother had a bag of clothes in the sea, then got back into the car. They went to Mirador and left the van there. His brother got into the car and his mother asked him if he had also stabbed and if he thought he would sink in the water. His brother told him that the system he had cut with the knife could never rise again. For the prosecutor, this is a key witness and he does not doubt his statements, in addition, the prosecutor considered the camera images. According to the prosecutor, there could have been different scenarios. The prosecutor considers this murder extremely cruel, where they killed a man and threw him into the sea in broad daylight. Then, both accused continued to live as if nothing had happened. Taking all this into account, the prosecutor arrives at a demand of 16 years for Yvolaine and 6 years for Gabrielo. Material damage of 7500 florins for the victim’s daughter and also 11,800 florins for the other son, plus 18,000 florins for the victim’s brother. The sentence will be pronounced on April 8th.
