WILLEMSTAD.- Information obtained by EXTRA indicates that the current management of the Hospital made it clear that they should have a role in the structure of the management of the new hospital that will be ready next year. This is in the agreement signed by Bishop, owners of SEHOS and also in the agreement for the transfer of personnel. The transfer of lower-ranking personnel is already in progress, in what is known as the transition process. EXTRA recently reported that 82% of workers got their jobs within the new structure. With respect to the remaining 18%, an alternative will be sought. The point is that they will not lose their jobs, as agreed in the Statute that was recently signed.

The question that is arising what will happen to the management staff of SEHOS, in the sense that it is not SEHOS that will implement its new structure. The New Hospital already placed an ad looking for the people who will be at the top of the Curaçao Medical Center project. There is a perception that these positions are already filled and that said ads are superfluous. The question remains what is going to happen with the management of SEHOS and if they must also apply for the new jobs. Apparently the current staff of SEHOS or at least some of its members argue that they have already been promised that they qualify for these jobs. Within this framework, as EXTRA indicated, this reference is based on the protocol signed in the past.

Apparently those who guide the process of supervision and transition for the Government maintain the view that the new Hospital is “a new ball game”. It is not automatic that those who are in SEHOS will get the management positions in the new structure. To make matters worse, according to our informants, there were strong words and discussions between the government team and some people belonging to the staff of SEHOS, which has increased even more, the tension behind the scenes. The situation is so serious that there is an intermediation process taking place, since these discussions do not help to create a healthy environment as it is required.

SEHOS has a large number of points of view that it must attend before the new structure is ready. The entity has a large debt and lately admitted that it charged the ex-workers extra money for pension. The deliberation recently entered into an impasse. Along with this, SEHOS confronts shortage of material to work, which puts pressure on the surgical interventions in the Hospital. Now there will be discussions about what is going to happen with the hierarchical staff of SEHOS.
