After four months, the IOM-coordinated food aid program for irregular migrants in Curaçao will came to an end on September 30.
The IOM launched its project in June of 2021, continuing the Red Cross food aid project, where aid has been offered to the migrant population since the pandemic outbreak.
The end of the aid provided is related to the end of the subsidy made available by the Netherlands for this specific aid. However, the project will carry on with ongoing services for beneficiaries who can continue usage of the e-voucher until the end of October. The customer service set up for support can be reached from Monday to Friday at the following telephone numbers:
1. +5999 693 9487
2. +5999 693 9430
In the ongoing project, IOM has met the needs of over 3,070 households providing this primary need based on a comprehensive cash-based intervention program. Under this CBI programme, e-vouchers have been distributed, allowing beneficiaries to do their shopping in various supermarkets. At the same time a total of 1,000 to date food parcels have also been distributed in recent months to the most vulnerable migrants.
Founded in 1951, IOM is a United Nations-related organization and the leading UN agency on migration. The IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. The organization is committed to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does this by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
