WILLEMSTAD.- The working visit of a delegation from Curaçao, among others the Director of Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) Humberto de Castro, Raúl Manitas of CPA, the Director of Domeinbeheer Jairo Martín and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Traffic and Urban Planning (VVRP) Dwight Puriel in Holland, has cost a bit of tension in the Rhuggenaath Cabinet. This according to several sources. As is known, there is discussion in the community regarding the decision of the Government to agree on a possible development plan for Rif. There are organizations that do not agree with the governments plan of removing mangroves to build a street. In the Parliament there are also different parties that do not agree with this plan. There is also concern about the future of the Benny Leíto pool and the Johnny Vrutaal stadium. The Rif Foundation emphasizes that both places must remain open to the public. The work visit that the Delegation made in the framework of the development based on this area, to the football stadium of Feyenoord in the city of Rotterdam in Holland, has caused commotion in the community. It should be reported that a banner was placed on Pater Eeuwensweg last week against the development plan of Rif. Another banner was also recently placed on the Breedestraat viaduct in Otrobanda, with a statement against the removal of mangroves. In the Rhuggenaath Government there are Ministries that want to avoid further consternation concerning this topic. They want to offer more information regarding the Rif development plan in a short period of time.
