WILLEMSTAD – Today, in the early hours of the morning, a notification was received about a fire that completely engulfed a house on Sisalstraat, Mundu Nobo. Firefighters quickly arrived to control the blaze. Neighbors informed the firefighters that the man living in the house had not managed to escape. The fire was so intense that even the trees in the yard were engulfed in flames. Firefighters faced a daunting task in containing the fire and accessing what remained of the house. When they managed to extinguish the flames, they found the resident in a room at the back of the house. The victim died because of the burns suffered. Once the fire was extinguished, the police and forensic doctor arrived at the scene to conduct the necessary investigations and confirm the death. Just a week ago, another person lost his life in a fire in a house in the Monte Carmelo neighborhood. Once again, Curacao mourns another victim of a residential fire.
