WILLEMSTAD.- The Minister of Health, Javier Silvania, provided additional details about the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he will sign with India. According to Minister Silvania’s explanation, they are working on the plans together with the Indian community in Curacao.

As reported by EXTRA in our edition yesterday, at the beginning of this month, the Council of Ministers reached a preliminary agreement to authorize the Minister of Public Health to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his Indian counterpart.

Minister Silvania explained to EXTRA that, concerning his duties as Minister of Health, the government of Curacao aims to conclude the MoU with India in the field of health. India is a country where there are factories for generic drugs, and it would be beneficial for Curacao to import generic medicines directly from these factories. There are various aspects in the health field, such as in India, where there are different medical schools and specialists who can assist Curacao.

“In that context, I approached the possibility of an MoU. Along with the Indian community in Curacao, we are working on this plan for cooperation between the two countries and several projects for the benefit of the health of both countries,” Minister Silvania informed EXTRA.
