WILLEMSTAD.- Until now there is no concrete visualization of the situation of the Hotel Plaza, which has been standing empty for some time now. Apparently there are interested buyers but no definite decisions yet. This was taken from the statements offered by the Minister of Economic Development sr. Steven Martina. The minister said that those interested should go to Girobank.
Minister Martina hopes that before the end of the year the auction will be held and that there will be serious investors who want to acquire the Hotel in order to guarantee its continuity. Before the auction, Girobank wants to a screening and in addition the interested parties must deposit a certain amount equivalent to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($ 150.mil) in cash, to be able to participate in the auction. It is also required that the interested parties demonstrate the origin of the money and that they do have the necessary funds to purchase the hotel in the future.
All this is part of a process before the auction, according to Martina. “There is an interested party who has complied with the demands and can go to the process.”
From this we can conclude that there is still no clarity and nothing concrete in this regard and for the moment the Hotel will remain empty waiting for a good soul to come to rescue him from the abyss.
