WILLEMSTAD.- Tensions are high at Brasami these days. The decision was made that the Institute will no longer continue in its current form in Otrobanda and will transfer the workers and clients/patients of the Institute to the Capriles Clinic.

But to execute this decision is not very easy in practice. First the clients/patients. There are a number of clients/patients in Brasami who are there because of a decision by the Court. So these type of clients do not receive voluntarily treatment or care but imposed pa a Judge.

The question is how Capriles Clinic will deal with clients who are not psychiatric patients, but need the support to overcome their addiction. As for the staff, there are also many questions about how this will be resolved.

At Brasami there are several “experienced” workers who have been there for a long time. Professionals with solid experience base give guidance to these addicts. The question is; how are they going to be integrated into the staff at the Capriles Clinic?

Will they have to attend a course or will their work experience be recognized? There is also a number of workers at Brasami which Capriles Clinic already has in their service. The question lies in knowing whether Capriles Clinic needs to take all these workers? An example would be social workers. If Capriles Clinic has the needed amount already in service, would it be necessary to take those who are from Brasami?
