WILLEMSTAD.- The Midnight Stone ship last night was anchored in Curaçao, the same as the Seven Seas ship. Both ships had the intention of going to Venezuela with humanitarian aid. Midnight Stone left Puerto Rico last week with food and medicine for the Venezuelan people. The Venezuelan navy threatened the ship not to enter Venezuelan territorial waters. That’s why the Midnight Stone returned to Curaçao yesterday, after staying at Bonaire for one night.

As it is known, the president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro does not allow humanitarian aid from United States to enter his country. Since Friday, the ship Seven Seas is in Curaçao. The intention of the Seven Seas was to go to Venezuela from Curaçao with the humanitarian aid that came in last week with American planes. On the Seven Seas ship there were more than 50 tons of humanitarian aid that was collected locally and internationally. The ship Seven Seas last Saturday had the intention of going to Venezuela via Bonaire. But in the end the ship did not leave Curaçao.

As is known, the Government of Curaçao insisted that the transportation of humanitarian products to Venezuela could only take place under certain and unforced circumstances. The Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rossello declared Saturday night that he had contact with the ship Midnight Stone, “they have to avoid the territorial waters of Venezuela temporarily”.

The Venezuelan community in Curaçao is very concerned about the situation in Venezuela. Some of the Venezuelans during this weekend were stationed in the port of Curaçao, to support the ships that were supposed to depart with the humanitarian aid.
