DEN HAAG / W’STAD.- On behalf of the Government of the Netherlands, the decision was made to give support to the Red Cross in order to alleviate the situation in Venezuela. This is how, in the meantime, it is known that due to the crisis in Venezuela every day there are millions of Venezuelans who cross the border to look for a better life or to make purchases in neighboring countries. Also thousands of Venezuelans who choose to leave their own country in search of a better life. They are already approaching, more than 3 million compatriots who have left their country from the beginning because of the crisis.

Venezuelan citizens flee to countries such as Colombia, Peru, Ecuador or Brazil as they live in extreme poverty, lack of food, a terrible health service and repression by the Government. At this time, this group forms the largest influx of refugees and migrants from South America.

They leave their country with the hope of a better perspective, in the countries that are in the neighborhood. On the other hand, in the countries of the neighborhood, they are confronted with the trafficking of people, misuse, exploitation and violence.

This is why international organizations are obliged to give them a hand, and one of these organizations is the Red Cross. The International Red Cross, helps them with temporary shelter and sanitary provision, food and clean water to drink, they also have medical help, expanded security for children, women and search for families that have lost others.

And to make it possible for the Red Cross to give this type of aid mentioned above to Venezuelans with needs, the Netherlands has allocated the sum of 600,000 euros available to the Red Cross for Venezuela. And this week added the amount of 1 million euros in addition to the original sum.
