WILLEMSTAD. – Minister of Justice Mr. Quincy Girigorie considers the robbery of drugs that took place in the police station at Garipitoweg a hit completely below the belt against the Police Force that is acting severely against crime. But this won’t stop the police, says the minister yesterday evening to the EXTRA. The minister said that he noticed the robbery case that happened on Sunday morning, where a substantial quantity of drugs (cocaine) was stolen from the police station in Rio Canario. The minister condemns this strongly.

It’s very important for us to realize that in the fight against crime that we will also be hurt. This hit was a very painful one, because it exposes the security of the Police Force personnel. It’s a hit below the belt for the Police Force of Curacao in their fight against crime.

But at the same time, he states that he’s giving the guarantee that this case gets to be priority number one, not only to solve the robbery but also to bring the security level back to where it should be.

Furthermore, the minister informed that he has been in contact with the Public Prosecutor after the incident and was assured that the Public Prosecutor’s Office together with other partners in the justice chain is giving this case the priority.

Solving this case is a must in order to send a clear message back to criminals. In terms of the security issue says the minister that the management team has already taken extra measures to ensure the security of the staff.

The minister is convinced that the police will hit the criminals hard, knowing the motivation and dedication of the police Force.
