WILLEMSTAD.- We are working on long and short term plans. We’re also working to improve our public transportation. The intention of this is to make the public transportation system more effective and also more accessible, so that more people can use public transportation instead of cars. ”
This was explained by the Minister of Traffic and Urban Planning Zita Jesús-Leito. The minister explained that more cars on the roads, means that there are more possibilities for accidents. Now we have a census of approximately 86,000 thousand cars. That is too much. The minister said that the current government does its part to enjoy safe traffic. Jesús-Leito spoke about “Traffic Safety Week 2018”, which will take place between August 20 and 24.
This year the ministry of Jesus-Leito gave more attention to the review of the cars. Related to the vehicle reviews, the minister explained that in the month of January, 5,948 cars were reviewed. In February, 5116, in March 6561 cars and in April 5101. In May, 4982 and in June 4140. For a total of 31,848 revised cars within the first 6 months of the year. According to Jesús-Leito there are many changes taking place in the department of vehicle inspection.
Later on, Jesus-Leito added that the government did during the Security Week. “We went to different schools together with the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Marilyn Alcala-Wallé and we gave informative brochures to several schools”. And groups 7 will inform children about Traffic Safety.
