WILLEMSTAD – Curoil is reacting on the claims that have been presented the last days on social media regarding the smell of gasoline. Curoil emphasized that all their products go through a rigorous control process to guarantee that they are in accordance with the current specifications, stipulated by the Government of Curaçao.
With regard to the smell of gasoline, it may happen that it varies. This can result from the components that have no effect on the quality of gasoline. Curoil reiterates that the product conforms to current specifications.
As is already known, Curoil buys products from different suppliers in the region. For each purchase, a tender process is opened and different suppliers present their offers. Finally, a selection of the most suitable supplier is achieved, in which Curoil emphasizes two fundamental aspects: quality and price.
Regarding the aspect of quality, in the purchase process, Curoil applies strict rules to evaluate the quality of each product. To be considered an appropriate supplier or supplier, the product of the company in question must always comply with the current specifications. In addition, during the logistic process, at three different times the control over the quality of the products is completed. The controls take place impartially for all accredited inspection companies. This in order to ensure that from the moment of purchase until the moment of supply to the gas stations, the quality of the product meets the correct specifications.
Regarding the prices, apart from the purchased price, also, the totality of the expenses involved in the operation is evaluated in order to make a real comparison between the different offers. All purchase invoices must be submitted to BTPU, which in turn uses this point as the starting point to calculate the prices of what the consumer will pay, and this procedure must be approved and ratified by the Government.
