WILLEMSTAD.- The Government of Curaçao in negotiations with Liberty Latin America paid a lot of attention so that UTS employees do not back down in their negotiations and to maintain the work quotas of our Curacao citizens.  “I do not doubt that Liberty Latin America will now have within UTS employees a new group of professionals with a lot of knowledge and capacity that will have great value around the world,” said Minister Zita Jesus-Leito of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning  yesterday after signing the “Shared Purchase Agreement” between the Government of Curacao and Liberty Latin America.

During the negotiations to achieve a strategic partner for the company, she requested an agreement with the workers’ union on the labor process, which will include voluntary withdrawals. The Chairman of the Negotiating Commission, Mr. Alberto “Chos” Romero explained in Parliament more than two weeks ago, that in principle there is an agreement already, with Liberty Latin America regarding those with whom they will stay and those that they will leave voluntarily. Moreover, there is an agreement and words also contracted with regard to the part on pensions and the company concerned announced that it respects this.

Jesus Leito said yesterday in her speech at the Hilton Hotel; that Liberty Latin America recognizes the value and importance of keeping the name of UTS for a long time. “It was agreed that if the brand is established, maybe we can maintain it for many more years, this will depend on all of us, together we will agree on a commitment that together we will maintain the UTS brand, to keep our UTS now in a new formula and for many more years. “
