WILLEMSTAD.- Most of the countries of the world are confronting the problem of unregistered people. Here in Curaçao we also have that problem. So the Minister of Government, Planning and Public Service Armin Konket explained yesterday after the presentation of the figures regarding the number of people who are currently registered in Kranshi with their country of origin.

During the press conference in Kranshi the top 5 of nationalities living in Curaçao were presented. These are figures just related to the country of origin, of people who live in Curaçao and who are registered in Kranshi. According to the figures, 72% of the people living in Curaçao were born here. People who come from Holland form 7%. Those of the Dominican Republic are equivalent to 4%. Colombia is next with 3% and Venezuela with 2%. It was mentioned that someone from Curacao but who was born in Holland and now registered in Kranshi, is registered as Dutch as a country of origin.

The figures are different from those that Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie recently mentioned. According to Girigorie there are almost 10,000 legal Venezuelans in Curaçao and next to this there are thousands of Venezuelans living illegally on the island. Kranshi yesterday could not explain for what reason Minister Girigorie mentioned thiese numbers. The 2% of people who have Venezuela as their country of origin and who are registered in Kranshi is equivalent to just over 3,000 people.
